Micrsoft officially released Update Rollup 9 for System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager.

Microsoft did not supported officially a backup and recovery of Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 with DPM 2012 R2 RU8, but now RU9 has been released! What is the difference between this DPM 2012 R2 update versions concerning Microsoft Exchange Server?

DPM 2012R2 RU8

After Microsft presented the RTM version of Microsoft Exchange 2016 in October 2015, we have made a test with Microsoft Data Protection Manager 2012 R2 RU8 in December 2015 to backup and recovery Microsoft Exchange 2016 databases and mailboxes. These tests have been completed successfully, even Microsoft Exchange 2016 was not on the supported list of DPM 2012R2 RU8.

Everybody has expected that the announcement of RU9 for Microsoft Data Protection Manager will include also the support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2016. But far from it! When you have a look on the support matrix, Microsoft Exchange 2016 and ReFS are also not listed as supported solutions until today!
